I am very pleased with the growth on the Math MAPS test today! Now we are smooth sailing until the SOLs in a few weeks. There is a lot of learning still taking place though, so please remind your child to be on their best behavior as "Spring Fever" sets in.
In math, we are down to two SOLs left. 5.8 deals with perimeter, area, volume, and equivalent measures and 5.14 deals with determining probability and constructing a sample space. We will begin working on 5.8 after the test on circles, angles, and triangles tomorrow.
In science, we are finishing up our unit of study on light and will begin reviewing. Your child will be asked to pick a topic that they have studied in fourth or fifth grade science that they would like to review with the class. They will then create a lesson that lasts no longer than 15 minutes to share with the class. They will also create a quick quiz that highlights the main points of their lesson. This will be a fun and creative way to review for the science SOL test that is scheduled for May 7.
Report cards will be coming home on Monday, April 27.
Our field trip is Wednesday, April 29.
Field Day is Friday, May 2.
The Science SOL Test is May 7.
The Math SOL test part 1 is May 14 and part 2 is May 15.
