We continue to work with the Math Olympics, and your child has access to the website at home or a packet from me, so if we are out for any length of time, you can encourage him/her to work on the problems so that I can collect them on the day we get back. I have not heard about how this will affect submissions for the medals, but I'm going to go on the assumption that I will be able to submit scores once we are back in school. For an up to date look at the medal standings, you can go to the following link and see how our class has fared in the rounds. So far, Mr. Driscoll's class is in the lead with 9 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals for a total of 14. My homeroom is not too far behind with the count of 5 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze with a total of 10. You can also access the questions and class standings for each event on the event page.
In math, we will continue to work on the Olympic problems daily while we also work with elapsed time. I have introduced this to your child and they have had some time to work on it in class. A test was scheduled for Monday, but will probably be postponed until later next week.
In science, we are almost finished with our Living Systems unit and I was planning for the Unit Test to be on Friday. However, that too is likely to change. If we are able to cover the rest of the notes for the topic tomorrow, then the students can expect the test the day that we return to school after the snow.
By now, you should have received information on Power school. A packet was sent home with your child on Friday with their grade report. If you need to find this information online, you can also go here. This is set to go live tomorrow.
Picture day is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 18. If you are planning on purchasing pictures please either pay online or send me the money in the envelope on Tuesday. If you would like to play online go to www.strawbridge.net follow the online instructions and enter the code 4969000 when prompted. In order to receive a class picture, you must prepay. Individual pictures will be sent home and you can then decide whether you would like to make a purchase.
