The nine weeks closes Friday, April 15. All late work is due to me no later than Thursday in order to allow me to get it into the grade book.
The volunteer luncheon is fast approaching! Please make plans to join us for lunch on Thursday, April 21. If you would, please fill out the form so that we know how many to plan for. If you need another copy of the form, please click the link.
It's the time of year to update our Student Information forms. If you did not already update on zippslip, your child will be bringing a new paper copy home tomorrow. Please sign and update any information that is needed and return this form back to the school as soon as possible.
Field day t-shirt orders have been extended through tonight! Please go online and order your child a field day shirt. You can order through the field day store at zimmzang.com.
We are getting ready to start a new unit in reading! I am very excited about the Hero project that your child will be completing. On Friday, they gave me their top 3 choice of heroes that they would like to learn more about and today they found out who their assigned hero is. I have asked them to get you to sign that you have seen the project. Most of the work will be completed in school. However, there is a project portion that will need to be completed at home. The due dates may change depending on when the books from the other libraries arrive in our classroom. Check google calendar for current due dates.
In math, we are almost finished with all of our new standards for the year. There will be a test on 5.8 later this week. I will post the exact date on google calendar as soon as we finish a few more subtopics.
In writing, we are working with how to correctly use quotation marks. This is a very tricky subject for most students. We will be taking the lessons slowly so that they will truly stick and be useful for your child.
We will finish our social studies unit on the Northeast this week. Next week, we will begin our unit in science on Sound.
