This is just a reminder that the field trip permission slip and form is due no later than this Friday. Please send in a check or cash for $38 to ensure your child's place on this exciting trip. We will leave the school at 7 and return around 4:30 on the 15th.
As you may have noticed, I have begun assigning your child homework on a computer based program that we have called "Exact Path". This program is designed to target specific weaknesses and strengths that your child has in math based on their NWEA test scores. This is an excellent way to ensure that your child is being challenged with math work that is leveled just for them!
In math we are beginning our new unit on Geometry. We will be working with angles and triangles this week. Today we reviewed angles and used a Guideline Protractor to get an idea of how to use a real protractor. We will begin using protractors tomorrow. We will move to triangles on Wednesday and then continue practicing naming, measuring, and classifying angles and triangles for the rest of the week. There will be a test on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
In small group, we are continuing our novel studies. You may have noticed the HUGE amount of assignments in PowerSchool in the reading class. This is due to each small group having their own assignment for their novel. Do not be alarmed if your child has assignments that are left blank. They only need to complete assignments based on their novels. Ask your child what novel they are reading. I encourage you to read a chapter or two with them every once in a while and ask them questions about it. They may work on reading the novel or answering the questions at home or at school. All I ask is that they are prepared to discuss the chapters that are assigned when they come back to the small group table.
