This week in math, we are learning about circles. There will be a test on Friday. All your child needs to be able to do is know the key vocabulary: circumference, radius, diameter, and chord. They also should be able to describe the relationship between radius and diameter. This is a very easy lesson and should result in a good grade as long as your child takes responsibility and studies.
I am loving the novel study groups! The students seem to be enjoying them as well. We are about halfway through most of the books and on pace to finish in a few weeks. My biggest concern is that some students are not keeping up with the questions on schoology. They have around 4 hours of class time to work on this each week, so there is no reason to be falling behind. One suggestion that I have given them is to read the book at home with you and spend class time answering the questions. Conversely, they could read the book here, and answer questions at home. Either way, I am trying to give them a manageable amount of work and prepare them for deadlines and due dates. Time management is a very important executive function skill.
And finally, please remind your child that they should be spending at least 20 minutes on Exact Path every night. If they don't know how to long in, they need to let me know. All of them should know how to get on to this however, because they are able to do this at school. Please let me know if they need a user name or password.
