On Thursday, Dr. Russo will be visiting with our fifth graders. Be sure to ask them about what he had to say. They will also have a chance to ask him some questions. Also, on this day, class pictures will be taken. Please send in a note if you order the picture online.
March is rapidly approaching! With it comes our very first SOL test of the year. It will be given the week of March 11. More information about specific dates will be coming. If you would like to have your child practice or if you would like to see what they are going to have to do, check out this link. It will take you to all of the online items, and you can choose which one you would like to review.
In math, we are working on simplifying, adding, and subtracting fractions. By the end of next week, I am expecting to be finished with this and we will be moving onto geometry.
In science, we are exploring matter and the parts of the atom. The students have been able to get some ideas about molecular interactions using the ITSI-SU website. The models that they have been working with have provided some nice visuals to accentuate our study.
In writing, our focus remains on elaboration. This week our grammar study is on quotation marks. Quotation marks are tricky and I thank you for helping your child with the homework or for checking over it nightly.
