Week of May 30, 2022
Mrs. Harrington & Mrs. Gosney
Hello Families!
We have almost made it! We are in the final week of May and tomorrow will be June! Look at how much your fifth graders have grown this year. They are ready for the excitement and challenges of middle school!
Please continue to check in on your child’s grades, any missing assignments they may have, and make sure your child is following all assignment directions and staying after school if they have any questions or need help! Encourage them to sign up with a teacher on Wednesdays in order to make sure they are catching up with any missing assignments. Please always feel free to reach out with any questions you might have on DOJO or email, schoology or CLEVER!

Important! Please READ! NEW THIS NINE WEEKS!!!!!!!
As we enter the last nine weeks of school, we feel it is more important than ever to prepare your child for grade level expectations for next school year. Therefore for the remainder of the year, we will be instituting the following HVA late work policy: Any work not turned in on its due date will be assessed at 10% off per class period. Since fifth graders have every class every day, we will be operating on a -5 points a class day policy. After 10 days, if an assignment has not been turned in, it will no longer be accepted. Your child is responsible for turning in his/her work. We have asked them for it, reminded them that it is due, shown them how to check their grades in PowerSchool for missing work, as well as included their name on a missing work document. If you see their name on that missing work document (that is also shared weekly with you in this newsletter and can be found on Mrs. Gosney’s website) your child can navigate to that assignment and “prove” that it is turned in for you. Since assignments that are turned in late are not being graded at the same time as the rest of the class’ work, the grades will take longer to appear in PowerSchool.
