Wow! Time is flying! As we are wrapping up our year, we are busy finishing up projects and are on schedule to finish everything by June 14!
If your child hasn't already brought their board back for the String Art Project, please have them do so soon. Most of the students are almost finished with the packets that explain some of the geometric concepts that they will use to create their designs. Some have even begun hammering the nails in to start their creations. I can't wait to see what designs they come up with! Also, if your child is going to Moody Middle School, they will be bringing home their course verification form for next year. Please review the sheet. If something is not correct, please write in the space what should be ADDED and what should be DROPPED. A parent signature is required at the bottom for a counselor to change the course. Only return the sheet if a change needs to be made. Sheets should be returned NO LATER than June 14,

Wow! It has been a while, but after I sent a detailed mini-blog on interims last Monday, I just let that suffice as last week's post.
First off, I want to say again "THANK YOU!" for all of the awesome gifts and cards that you showered me with during Teacher Appreciation week. I am once again humbled and amazed at your kind words and gifts. Your children make this job the best one ever and I am so thankful that I get to spend every week day with them. I also want to congratulate all of the students for their hard work on their experimental design projects. They were all very nice, thought out, and thorough. Thank you to everyone for helping out at home and for bringing your child in last Thursday night so everyone could see their hard work. By now, I'm sure you've heard the exciting news, but in case you haven't, Sabrina won the writing contest! We were all so proud of her! You should have heard the cheers erupt when we let the class know! Thank you to everyone who voted for her! Today your child should have brought home an order form to pre-order school supplies for next year's school year. If you are interested, ask your child about them. I saw quite a few in the trash and recycle bin as I was leaving school today. We only have one SOL left to go! The last one is science and will be on May 30. In class, the students are presenting their lessons that they created from the orange review books. They then lead their classmates through the pages that encompasses their lessons and culminate their lesson with an activote quiz. Please ask your child what lessons were "taught" in class today and review those sections with them that night. The orange book serves as the study guide for the Science SOL. As we near the end of school, please continue to encourage your child to keep his or her behavior in check. Often during the last few weeks behaviors start to escalate with all the excitement and fun activities that we get to do. As an extra incentive for great behavior, your child can earn 500 extra beans for not loosing any beans during the week. If they mess up one day, then they can still earn 50 extra beans a day as long as they don't loose them more than 3 days. I am happy to say that more than 90% of the class earned bonus beans last week! Keep up the awesome job! And finally, if I don't get a chance to see you before then, everyone have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend. |
