Whole Group Reading/Writing- We have finished our big writing unit. Yay! This week will be catching up on overdue assignments and independent reading for pleasure! Gosney Homeroom Math- This week in math we continue to learn about variables and how to read a word problem and write an equation to match. There will be a test on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday will be spent reviewing fraction computation.
Please encourage your child to complete the required 5 lessons on DreamBox weekly. This is required by the HVA and is used as a grade. You can check out the weekly dreambox board here. Please continue to encourage your child to complete at least 1 lesson a day.

What are we learning next week with Mrs. Harrington?
Small-Group Reading- Students will be working on a variety of things and we will be reviewing data from the last test to create focused areas of need. Your child may have a practice packet in which they will be expected to complete - please know this is to support their reading in the area they need it most!!! Let’s get ready for those Reading SOLS!!! You should read nightly no matter what reading level you are on! DURING READING SMALL GROUP TIME! Please, Please, Please remember that you should be on the computer with Mrs. Massa or Mrs. Harrington at all times. If you happen to walk by and your student is not on a TEAMS link or in a waiting room please ask them where they should be. Shooting Mrs. Harrington a message via Class DOJO is the best method to reach out to me to get students to the right spot as needed during this hour. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT PLEASE REACH OUT TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER!!!
Social Studies- Keep working on the WeVideo Midwest or Northeast State Project. This can be found in your Schoology Social Studies Folder under the WeVideo Project Folder. Please reach out with any questions - Due on Wednesday March 30th, 2022. We will be presenting to two 3rd grade classrooms and one 1st grade classroom on Thursday, March 31st!
Science- We are flying through Science as we prepare for the SOLS at the end of May. Remember that SOL Pass is an awesome way to study and keep up with current and past SOLS. We are ALMOST done with all 5th grade SOLS and will start reviewing 4th so you can work on anything on that page. We will start Earth and Rocks this week and finish it AFTER Spring Break. We will be learning about the layers of the earth and the characteristics of each as well as plate tectonics and how they converge, diverge and transform to create land features in which we are familiar with.
