Please continue to check in on your child’s grades and make sure your child is following all assignment directions and staying after school if they have any questions or need help! Encourage them to sign up with a teacher on Wednesday in order to make sure they are catching up with any missing assignments. Please always feel free to reach out with any questions you might have on DOJO or email, schoology or CLEVER!

- LATE WORK: The third nine weeks, all work that is LATE will be 5 POINTS OFF PER WEEK until a 50 is reached! We want 5th graders to be ready for middle school next year and all of the policies they follow. We have slowly scaffolded the students on late work and counted it as 5 points off their total grade up to this point. Please keep checking the missing work document in order to make sure work is being turned in by your child in a timely fashion.

Gosney Missing Work Document - WELLNESS WEDNESDAY continues this week. Encourage your child to take advantage of this time to catch up on missing work or study for upcoming tests!!! Please reference the Wellness Wednesday slideshow found on the teacher’s homepage in Schoology.

What are we learning next week with Mrs. Gosney?
Whole Group Reading/Writing-Figurative Language- We will continue our study of figurative language this week. There will be a test covering the 6 main types we have learned about at the end of the week. The students can use their notes that can be found in Schoology to study.
Gosney Homeroom Math- We continue to work with fractions this week. We are moving into adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers which is the next topic in this strand.
Please encourage your child to complete the required 5 lessons on DreamBox weekly. This is required by the HVA and is used as a grade. You can check out the weekly dreambox board here. 75% met or exceeded their weekly goal last week!

What are we learning next week with Mrs. Harrington?
Small-Group Reading- We will continue to meet your child’s need WHERE they are whether that is decoding or comprehending chapter texts. You should read nightly no matter what reading level you are on! DURING READING SMALL GROUP TIME! Please, Please, Please remember that you should be on the computer with Mrs. Massa or Mrs. Harrington at all times. If you happen to walk by and your student is not on a TEAMS link or in a waiting room please ask them where they should be. Shooting Mrs. Harrington a message via Class DOJO is the best method to reach out to me to get students to the right spot as needed during this hour. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT PLEASE REACH OUT TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER!!!
Social Studies- This week we will start studying and reviewing states found in the Northeast of the United States. The students will learn about all the different states, the capitals, and the key features of the states.
Science- Your child should have submitted their test on Performance Matters on Electricity & Magnetism.
