Hello Stinger Families!
We are excited to welcome some Stingers back into the hive this week and look forward to learning with our virtual Stingers! Please review the newsletter below for materials needed, important dates, and concepts we will cover throughout the next week:
Materials Needed This Week:
Art Class- Jean-Michel Basquait inspired work- Classes who have art on Thursday and Friday, please bring work you have already started. *All classes need paper, pencil, something to add color
Important Reminders, Dates, & Events:
Update on Grades/Schoology: We are hopeful the changes in PowerSchool and Schoology will be completed this week as we begin in-person learning. Recent grades will be posted soon. In the meantime, we will reach out to you and your child if we have concerns with their current progress. We truly appreciate your patience!

Monday- Silly Story (Wear a silly outfit)
Tuesday- Famous Americans (Dress like them! Inventor, celebrity, educator, etc.)
Wednesday-Influential Athletes (Favorite sports team.)
Thursday-Different Cultures (Represent your family’s culture or hometown.)
Friday-Favorite Book (Wear your favorite color.)

Reading/Writing- We will analyze visual, auditory, and written pieces of media. Students will create an advertisement for a product in class and use different types of media to showcase their products. Students will work on their Independent Work Menu which will be posted to this week’s reading folder in Schoology.
Social Studies- Our Southeast State Project will be due March 5th by 8pm. Directions for this project were given in class and are posted in your child’s Social Studies course in Schoology. You can also find a copy of the project directions, a checklist, and note-taking guide in the Learning Packet that was available at Short Pump or sent electronically. Students will post a video of their completed project and explanation using the Flipgrid link that will be provided on this week’s Independent Work Menu. Later in the week, we will kick off our study of the Northeast region of the United States.
What are we learning next week with Mrs. Gosney?
Math- We will continue working with fractions this week. This week we will work with multiplying fractions. The test for adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers will be tomorrow, Monday, 3/1.
Science- This week we will be finishing up our study of Matter. The test is on Tuesday, 3/2. On Thursday, we will begin reviewing Electricity from fourth grade.
