The end of the nine weeks has flown by. Report cards will come home on November 24, but you can see your child's final averages today. I sent home papers again this week along with the grade for the nine weeks. A few children may have another paper to bring home on Monday because they were safety patrol or P.E. helpers, and missed the final paper that was stuffed in the folders. Everyone else got everything. I will send the graded paper folder home again to begin the second nine weeks on December 4.
Picture retakes will be on Thursday. If you are interested in having your child's picture retaken, please send back the original pictures in the envelope and they will be redone on Thursday, Nov. 19. If you missed the first round of pictures, but would still like to purchase some, please have your child stop by the office and ask Mrs. Wolski for an order form. Fill it out and send it to school on Tuesday along with the money and they can also have their picture made. The PTA meeting will be this coming Tuesday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. I hope you can join us for an exciting evening of S.T.E.M. We have finished patterns in math, and will begin working with probability on Monday. There will be a test on this material on Friday, Nov. 20. In science, the students have all found their stranded families and are beginning to put together a convincing presentation for the G.E.T.U. team. I am planning on having them start their presentations on Monday of next week. Four groups will go on Monday and four groups will go on Tuesday. Let me know if you're interested in coming in to see them, I'll let you know when your child's group will be presenting. In reading, we have been reading fiction stories in StoryWorks Magazine. We have been discussing plot and analyzing characters. This week we read, How Bad Can It Be? It opened the door for some great conversations within the classroom. In writing, we are almost finished with our expository writing piece. I am SO PROUD of how great the students are doing with this. I am really pleased with their progress and can't wait to see them put this writing style into practice in the future. In social studies, we are almost finished with our study of Henrico. There will be a few more weeks of it, and then we will be moving on to the regions of the United States. I'm excited to get started with that after Thanksgiving Break. |
