I am so glad the weather seems to have turned warm, at least for the time being. We enjoyed a warm, sunny recess today and it was so nice to be outside without freezing!
We are still participating in the Math Olympics. Because of the snow last week and school closing, there has been no new medals awarded. I have submitted our class' results and am anxiously awaiting word on how they did. The students are excited to see if they have won any medals, since this translates into beans for them. We are also finishing up our unit on time. The test will be on Thursday. As a culminating project, your child will be using a tour schedule to create an itinerary for an imaginary field trip. They will be responsible for filling the class' day trip on a spelunking adventure. It seems to have captured their imagination as they have all asked me if we could really go there. Unfortunately, Mammoth Cave in Kentucky is a little far for us to venture together. We are finishing up our unit on Living Systems as well. We will have the test tomorrow and then be moving on to Matter. In writing we are working with the correct usage of quotation marks. Next week, they will be able to put these skills to the test as they write a story using dialogue. Thank you to everyone who has returned the report card envelope.
