This week in science we are working with the ITSI-SU site. Although the software is rather slow on our class computers, the students seem to be enjoying the inquiry based lessons that are part of the program. As we begin our study of matter, we will also incorporate the site a few more times throughout the year.
In math, our unit test will be on Friday. At this point, your child should be proficient at changing fractions into decimals and percents, and vice versa. After this, our focus will remain with fractions, but will shift to cover everything from simplifying to adding and subtracting, and ways to show multiplication and division of fractions.
Writing is still coming along nicely and I am pleased with the growth that I have seen this year. We are still focusing on skills that will enhance your child's ability to communicate through writing. This week's focus is on quotations marks and how to use them properly throughout a story.
Please remember Class Picture Day is 2/28. You can send the payment to me and I will turn it in that day, or you can pay online. If you choose to order online, please send me a note or email so I will know who to send the pictures home with when they return to our school.
