In writing, the students are working on stories to enter into the McGraw Hill Writing contest. Many of them are choosing to work with a partner. I will be sending home permission slips on Friday so that I can enter their story into the contest.
We have jumped into our study of geometry with circles! The students in my homeroom will have the Circle Test on Friday. The students in Mr. Driscoll's homeroom will have the Circle Test on Thursday. The students are also participating in the TenMarks.com Math Madness challenge. So far, they have completed over 1000 problems! This week we are focusing on increasing our accuracy. They are able to do this both at home and at school if you would like to have them do extra practice in math.
Also on Friday, the students will have the unit test on Matter. They should be reviewing all notes on how temperature can change matter, atoms and molecules, and mixtures and solutions.
Coming home today with your child, you will find the Experimental Design Project guidelines. I know that many of the children participated last year, and are excited to do so again. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to email me. Tomorrow your child should have an idea for a project or two that he or she would like to do. We are starting early in case anyone would like to work with plants.
Also, Mrs. Hand has asked us to remind parents that there should be no outside food or drinks brought into the dining hall during lunch.
