Wow! What beautiful weather! It's hard to believe that it is December! I hope everyone has had a chance to enjoy a little bit of time outside the last few days.
Congratulations to the SPES Book Bowl team for earning second place in the tournament last week. That is quite an impressive feat! As a reminder science projects are DUE on Friday! Most of the students have been turning them in as they have been finishing them, but I do have a couple of students who have yet to give me anything. Please check with your child and make sure that they are on track for completion by Friday. I am planning to let them have some class time tomorrow to work on these. This week in math we are working on patterns and sequences. I am happy to say that it looks like it is going well and we are on track to move along into variables and equations soon. In writing this week, your child is working on writing to explain. We reviewed a new writing organizer yesterday to help with planning and they are starting on an explanation that they chose to write about today. As you may have noticed on the graded paper report, the grading rubric has changed. This may cause some slight variation in your child's writing grade. As a final note, I am sorry about the delay in getting the graded paper forms to you. They were supposed to go home on Friday. But, after everyone had left the room and I made it back to my desk, I saw them all neatly stacked and ready to be handed out. Interims will be coming home on next Tuesday, 12/11.
