We are super busy in class! In math we are wrapping up our units of study on graphing and data analysis. The unit test will be on Thursday of this week. This has also been on the Homework Board in the classroom since last week, so hopefully there are no surprises!
In writing, we finished the fairy tale trial of Peter Rabbit vs. Mr. McGregor. The students were really excited and I was very impressed with their arguments both for the prosecution and the defense! They did an excellent job. The jury, however, was unable to reach a verdict and Peter Rabbit will be have to have a retrial in another court. Today we started with our next fairy tale, Jack and the Beanstalk. The Grand Jury will convene on Thursday to decide if a crime was committed by Jack and what the charges will be.
In science, we are steadily wrapping up our SOS unit. All of the groups now know where their families are and are busy creating presentations to convince the G.E.T.U. to spend the $3000 required to rescue the family!
Thank you for sending in all of the forms that went home yesterday. You should have received a permission form for the Winter Party, permission slip for a field trip to the Math and Science Innovation Center later in January, and a permission slip for the aquatic safety field trip to the YMCA in January. Please make sure that you fill out all of the forms for the YMCA. Since the children will be getting in the water, there are more than the customary form that needs to be filled out.
