December 14-18th
Hello Parents and Stingers!
I can not believe it is the last week of school before Winter Break! This year is going so fast! Please review the newsletter below for important information and concepts we will cover this week.
Important Dates & Events:
Dec. 21–Jan. 1. Winter Break- School reopens Jan. 4, 2021
What are we learning next week with Mrs. Toth?
Reading-. We will review helpful tips that can be used to help identify the main idea of passages, or paragraphs, and summarize supporting details. On Tuesday, students will take a short reading assessment that will include concepts and skills covered thus far in reading. Students will work on their Independent Work Menu which will be posted to this week’s reading folder in Schoology on Tuesday.
English- We will continue to work on our expository writing pieces. Projects will be due by Friday, December 18th, at 8pm. (This is an extension from the original due date which was Dec. 16th.)
Social Studies- We will explore geographical landforms and terms this week. Students will also continue to work on their Map Skills Webquest. This will be due on Thursday, Dec. 17th, by 8pm.
What are we learning next week with Mrs. Gosney?
Math- Have you heard our new math song? Mrs. Toth’s class heard it and were able to sing it last week and my class will hear it tomorrow! Ask your child to sing it to you as it contains some excellent info about Mean, Median, Mode, and Range! It’s an earworm and will help them remember what each definition is and how to find them. We will continue with our study of mean, median, mode and range this week and wrap it up with a test on Thursday.
Science- This week we will start learning about cells. Students will learn about the shape of plant cells and animal cells and many of the similarities and differences that they share. This unit will be picked back up when we return from Winter Break.
