Your child also received a copy of the classes that they are registered for at Pocahontas next year. This copy needs to be signed and returned to me as soon as possible. I told the students they can get 4 dojo points for returning it on Monday.
This week, I had some very disappointing news upon my return from a sick day. Apparently, the class was very chatty and disrespectful to not only the substitute, but also Mrs. Garcia. Please talk with your child and remind them that the expectations for behavior do not change regardless of whom are in the room.
A Peek at Our Week:
Reading-We will continue with the fiction stories from StoryWorks. New wordly wise words were given out on Wednesday. The test will be next Friday. A book report paper also came home yesterday. Your child needs to pick a fantasy book and get it approved by both me and you. Please sign the bottom of the book report requirement page and have them show it to me on Monday.
Math-We are working on Algebra. We are almost finished with the fifth grade SOLs, and will move on to solving equations as required by the sixth grade SOLs. I will post a date for the math test on my calendar once I have a better idea of how much time we will need for the class to successfully master the content.
Science-We are almost finished with SOL 5.5! YAY! There will be a test on ALL of 5.5 on Wednesday. This means, that your child needs to go back and review the material that was taught about different types of cells and their organelles. They should know the differences as well as the similarities between plant and animal cells and their organelles.
Social Studies- Next Thursday we will begin our overview of the Northeast states.
