What are we learning next week with Mrs. Gosney?
Math- This week we will be working on decimal computation skills. Students will add, subtract and divide decimals by lining up the decimals and working the problem as they always do. They will then learn to ignore the decimal point when multiplying decimals until after they have completed the computation. Then, they will move the decimal point to the left of the number the same number of places that are in the factors. A test will be scheduled for next Monday.
Science- This week we will review the fourth grade SOL about animals and ecosystems. Topics will include: Populations, Communities, and Ecosystems, Food Webs, and Niches. A test will be given on Friday.
What are we learning next week with Mrs. Toth?
Reading- Students will explore and practice using text features such as type, headings, and graphics to predict and categorize information. Later in the week, we will identify the main idea of passages or paragraphs and summarize supporting details. Students will work on their Independent Work Menu which will be posted to this week’s reading folder in Schoology on Tuesday.
English- We will practice expository writing using a writing seed throughout the week. Students should complete their letter of gratitude (from last week) and submit it in Achieve 3000 by Friday, December 4th at 8pm. I will review this in class on Monday.
Social Studies- We will begin our unit on map skills this week. Students will have a quiz on map skills and geography vocabulary words next Wednesday, December 9th.
