I wanted to share a flyer with all of the current library resources and tutorials that the students might need at this time regarding BookHUB, using the library catalog, ebooks, Book Nooks, ect. Please reference the flyer if you have any questions.
Art-Mrs. Dornik:
In art class we have started learning about an artist named Shantell Martin. She creates large line art on many, many surfaces with positive messages. Please remind the students to find an item at home that was going to be recycled and bring it to Art Class to create Art with next week!

Important Dates & Events:
Monday, 10/5- Virtual Learning Packet Pick-up in the Short Pump bus loop. If you have signed up to receive your child’s packet by email, those will be going out tomorrow afternoon. It’s not too late to request an email instead of driving over to the school. Just make sure that you fill out this form. If you are picking up a paper copy of the packet, come through the drive through from 1:30-2:30 on Monday.
What are we learning next week with Mrs. Gosney?
Math- This week the math 5 students will be working on order of operations while the math 5/6 students will begin working on exponents and perfect squares. Students will sign into class at their normal time, and I will direct them on how to proceed in order to successfully complete the day’s lesson.
Science- This week we will finish our study of geology by wrapping up with fossils and human impact on land. A unit test will be on Thursday, 10/8l. The students will also have a choice project that will be due 10/9 that will allow them to creatively showcase their understanding of geology. They will get the project and explanation on Monday 10/5 and have all week to complete it.
What are we learning next week with Mrs. Toth?
Reading- We will continue to practice identifying plot elements and begin to explore character development using familiar characters from our class read aloud Because of Mr. Terupt. Students will receive a new independent work menu with this week’s assignments that they will work on during class. Important due dates and explanations of assignments are located on this document. Your child will be able to access this document on Monday by going to their Reading course and clicking on the Materials section. The menu will be in this week’s folder that will be labeled, October 5th-9th. I will explain everything on this menu in class.
English- We will review our affix charts created last week in class. Students will participate in several “Word Talks” that will encourage them to explore challenging words within our texts. We will also begin to review parts of speech. Students will have a quiz on the parts of speech on Friday.
Social Studies- We will continue our exploration of Henrico by exploring the water features, climate, and roads of early Henrico County. Students have a detailed slideshow, video explanation from Mrs. Toth, and an interactive Nearpod activity completed last week that may be used for review. They will have a quiz on this information on Tuesday, October 6th.
