Important Dates & Events:
This Week’s Schedule:
- Tuesday, October 5- Students who have signed up will report to their home schools to take a reading test.
- Wednesday, October 6- Students who have signed up will report to their home schools to take a math test.
What are we learning next week with Mrs. Gosney?
Reading- We began reading today learning about Story Elements. Throughout the next two weeks we will be learning about plot. Students will need to know the definitions of each level of a plot diagram as well as be able to apply these definitions while reading a story. We will continue reading Because of Mr. Terupt as our class read-aloud.
English- Many students began with Worldy Wise today. We are working on Lesson 1 this week and next week. The goal of Wordly Wise is to expand students’ vocabulary as well as review how parts of speech work in building sentences. This will expand students’ ability to write descriptively and help to make their writing more concise.
Math 5- Students will continue to work on computation skills. So far we have worked on addition, subtraction, and multiplication. We will begin working with division tomorrow. Please make sure that your student knows their math facts. As they progress through the grades now, mastery of math facts becomes more important to ensure that students are able to keep up with instruction.
Math 5/6- Students are working with Integers and learning about positive and negative numbers. We will be finishing up this unit and moving on to square numbers and exponents within the next week.
